  • DC-7B passenger flights out of Teterboro Airport, New Jersey  Three sightseeing flights on board the Historical Flight Foundation's completely restored 1958-era Eastern Air Lines Douglas DC-7B. The flights will last for approximately 60 minutes with seats priced at $300 each.   • RAeS Free Lecture: Ballooning - Not Just a Lot of Hot Air  Dr. Janet Folkes, Lecturer, Materials, Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering, University of Nottingham will present her experiences in long distance competitive gas ballooning. At the Gordon Bennett Gas Balloon Race in 2009 Janet and Ann Rich broke the female duration world record flying for almost 70 hours, covering 1,100 kms from Geneva to Madrid. The gas used was hydrogen and the balloon was a traditional "old" gas balloon.   • Flight 2014  2014 is the 100th anniversary of the first scheduled commercial airline.  This project of Florida Aviation Historic Society seeks to encourage and educate students and the general public that in 1914, the Benoist with pilot Tony Jannus at the controls, had its inaugural flight from St. Petersburg to Tampa, Florida and thus created a legacy in aviation history as the world's first scheduled passenger airline.

  • Hot Air Balloon European Cup 
  • Red Bull Air Race  Competition where talented pilots are up against each other in a race based on speed, precision, and skill.  The objective is to navigate a challenging race course in the sky, in the fastest possible time.  Pilots fly individually against the clock and have to execute tight turns through a slalom course consisting of specially designed pylons, known as "Air Gates." After knockout rounds the two fastest pilots go head-to-head in the final.  The flying is low-level and the spectators are close to the action.

Aviation Record Attempts

  • London to Cape Town '09  In 2009, British pilot Robert Vallier will attempt to break the World Record for a single-engine aircraft flight from London (UK), to Cape Town (SA), solo.  This web page will follow his progress.
